This is Joseph Jensen, your Sharks Swim Team Treasurer.  I am contacting all members of the group and former registrants who have not registered yet to provide additional guidance on volunteer deposits.

As the world becomes increasingly digital, more and more families no longer have paper checks and really do not need them.  This poses a significant challenge for volunteer deposits per our policy.  For a limited number of families in the past we would accept a credit card deposit; however, we can no longer support this practice at a larger scale.  Issues such as the number of cards to manage, responsibility for safekeeping card numbers, and the increased credit card fees are the main drivers.  As a result, we will no longer be accepting one-time pre-authorizations, pictures of the credit cards, or similar to satisfy the volunteer deposit as been the historic practice.

As challenges create future solutions, we do have paper & digital options for all to meet their $425 deposit requirement.  Option #3 is for those who do not want or maintain a check book.

Authorized methods of a Volunteer Deposit
1) Write a personal check

2) Obtain a one time check from our bank or credit card provider.  Many credit cards issue 5 free checks a year  

3) Register for a free account at https://checkeeper.com/ They provide the ability to enter your bank information and print a check for presentation to a 3rd party.  When printing make sure you sign the check in blue ink before turning in.

PS- I myself tested the Checkeeper process & I was able sign up with no credit card and print a check within minutes.  Example is attached.

I am sorry if this is an inconvenience & in the off season I plan to work with the board on a long term viable solution to accept deposits without the need for a checkbook and without debiting a families account.

Therefore if you have submitted a paper check already no action is required of you.  If you have submitted images or credit card authorizations for the volunteer deposit you must complete one of the 3 options above.
